You can fly, drive or take a train to Montana. Driving is a great way to see different parts of our beautiful state, like Glacier Park and Yellowstone. But it can take awhile to drive across such a big space. In fact, it's quicker to get to Texas than to drive across Montana (east-west)!
Our nearest airport is Great Falls (GTF), about 1 hour drive away. Helena (HLN), the state capitol, is about 1.5 hours drive away. Either is a good option. The airlines change their flights occassionally, but these airports are traditionally serviced by Delta, Horizon, United, Allegiant, and Alaska airlines, connecting through Seattle, Denver, Minneapolis, Salt Lake, or Chicago. For flight pick up we have available shuttle service. You will need to arrive at A Lazy H the afternoon before your packtrip. This is because we need your gear so that we can prepare all the packs the night before the trip starts.
Your departure flight should be the day after your trip ends. Expect early morning flights out of Great Falls or Helena.
Montana also has other airports, including those in Bozeman, Kalispell, Missoula, and Billings. These are further away, and we are not able to offer shuttle service to them.
Choteau sits at the intersection of US 89 and US 287 in north central Montana. Great Falls is 50 miles east on US 89. Helena is about 90 miles south on US 287 & I-15. There are two routes from the west: From Missoula, it is 120 miles southwest via US200 and US 287; From Kalispell and Glacier Park, take US 2 and US 89. The Kalispell/Glacier route is beautiful, but plan for heavy traffic in the summer. A Lazy H is 2 miles south of Choteau. From town, take 287 south toward Helena. Just outside of town, you'll cross over the Teton River. Take your first left onto Higgins Road, a gravel road. This is a country road with no signs. The road will turn sharply to the right. You'll want to follow the road less traveled and turn left. The road splits again, and again, you will stay left. A Lazy H is at the end of this bumpy dirt track. Getting to A Lazy H
